The world premiere of the restored version of METROPOLIS (DE 1927/2010) in Frankfurt and Berlin brings back to the screen the original version of the monumental silent film classic which for decades was considered to be lost.
The almost completely restored original version of the Murnau Foundation celebrates its premiere on February 12 at the same time in the Alte Oper (Frankfurt am Main) as part of the interdisciplinary project cooperation Phänomen Expressionismus which was initiated by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt Rhine-Main as well as in the Friedrichstadtpalast on the occasion of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival.
The newly adapted music score which is based on the original score of 1927 will accompany both screenings. In Berlin the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin plays under the direction of Frank Strobel, in Frankfurt the Staatsorchester Braunschweig performs under the direction of Helmut Imig.
